Pan Fried Tofu
Ingredients
- Firm tofu — 1 block (14 oz)
- Corn starch — approximately 2-3 tablespoons
- Optional: cayenne pepper (use sparingly, very spicy)
Soy scallion sauce:
- Soy sauce — 3 tablespoons
- Korean chili flakes (gochugaru) — 2-3 teaspoons
- Garlic clove — 1, minced
- Toasted sesame seeds — 2 teaspoons
- Sesame oil — 1 teaspoon
- Green onions — 1 tablespoon chopped
Instructions
- The trick is to dry the tofu well. Cover entire tofu block with paper towel to dry out excess water. Put a pan on top and let sit for 15 minutes.
- Cut tofu into 1-0.5” pieces.
- Put corn starch and sprinkle of cayenne pepper into a bowl.
- Heat pan with oil (avocado oil preferred). When hot, dip both sides of tofu into the corn starch mixture and put on pan, leaving space in between.
- Let tofu pan fry untouched for 6-7 minutes on one side. Turn and cook the other side for approximately 4 minutes.
- Remove and serve with dipping sauce.
